  • Kenidee Glazier cresting the top of the infamous Sugarhouse Hill on the State Cross Country course as the rest of the field traverses the alleyway of spectators.

  • Sisters Karter and Kenidee Glazier lead the pack out of the starting chute to begin the girls 2A race.

  • Danika Davis (1687) stays mentally locked in during the grueling climb of the Sugarhouse hill.

  • Freshman Prim Aiken gives everything she has left as she races to the finish.

This was the fourth consecutive time that Senior captain, Kenidee Glazier had competed at the State meet, but the first time she did so with a full team by her side.

The girls Varsity team, comprised of Prim Aiken, Charity Bowman, Danika Davis, Kenidee and Karter Glazier, Silver Henderson and Mikkel Jones took to the course amongst other 2A teams from all over the state. Glazier won the state title back in 2022 as a freshman and was the runner-up in both 2023 and 2024.

As the gun went off, the girls from Kanab wasted no time asserting themselves as contenders in a very talented field of runners. It came as no surprise to anyone in attendance that it was Kenidee who broke to the front of the pack and took charge of the race with almost 100 runners trying to chase her down.

As she crossed the finish line in a time of 18:51.11, the relief and joy were palpable from the Senior. “This title definitely means a lot more to me and feels more earned. I barely even knew what being a state champion meant my Freshman year and now I know that crossing the line first is never a given,” said Glazier. When asked what a highlight of her stellar cross country career would be, Kenidee said, “It would have to be overcoming setbacks that I never expected to have to experience and being able to find my love for running once again!” Glazier plans to finish out her senior year with basketball and then see what she can achieve in her last track season.

Another first for Glazier was turning to cheer on the rest of her team after crossing the finish line. Younger sister, Karter Glazier was the next Lady Cowboy across the line, followed by Prim Aiken and Danika Davis, with Davis’s time of 22:14.50 being an all-time best for the Junior. Silver Henderson was the final scoring runner for the Lady Cowboys with Charity Bowman and Mikkel Jones filling in the tiebreaker spots. Jones capped of her four-year cross-country career with an all-time of 26:28.99 at the state meet.

The Kanab Girls collective score of 92 points was enough to earn them a third place state finish, which is the highest in school history for either a boys or a girls team. Head Coach Levi LeFevre has this to say about his team, “I couldn’t be more proud of these girls and how they performed at the state meet. Kenidee winning put an exclamation point on her incredible high school career. Then to have that followed up with the highest placing for a KHS team is just the cherry on top! Karter and Prim have bright futures as Freshman and is was fun to see Danika, Silver and Charity figure some things out this season and be able to push themselves. I am so proud of Mikkel and how hard she has worked to be able to run at state and finish with a new PR.”

The KHS Top Ten Records board will need some updating after this weekend. While Kenidee will retain her spot at number one, Karter Glazier (number four), Prim Aiken (number seven), and Danika Davis (number eight) all solidified their spot in KHS history as well. Congratulations to the entire KHS girls team, way to go ladies, you made history!
