The Forsyth Fire is burning approximately 15 miles north of St. George, Utah. The fire started on June 19 in the Pine Valley Mountains and has been driven by red-flag winds.

The fire advanced towards the Pine Valley community. Firefighters used a previously constructed fuel break to directly engage the fire and protect the community through the night.

The Forsyth Fire exhibited extreme fire behavior from the beginning. Due to strong southwest winds and dry conditions, the fire made a run into the community of Pine Valley. Evacuations were immediately underway for public safety as firefighters engaged the fire and fought to protect structures throughout the night. Red flag conditions persist over the area as firefighters continue to protect homes and other infrastructure in the community of Pine Valley. The fire continues to be driven by strong winds and unseasonably dry fuels.

Crews continue to construct hand line across the southwest side of the fire perimeter; connecting from the Saddle Fire scar along the westside of Pine Valley. Additionally, in this area, a hose line is being laid around the community. Inside Pine Valley, crews remain ready in case the fire moves back toward residential areas.

If you fly, we can’t. Unauthorized drone flights pose serious risks to firefighter and public safety and the effectiveness of wildfire suppression operations.
