The Glendale Town Board met in the board chambers in the Glendale Town Hall on Thursday, March 21, 2024. Mayor Dan Spencer, board members Clint Porter, Paul Cox and Town Clerk Melanie Dutson were in attendance. Board member Chris Williams attended via remote video. Mayor Spencer called the meeting to order at 7:02 p.m.
The first two agenda items were approval of minutes from the previous meeting and monthly expenses. After review both items were unanimously approved.
Next, Kyler Nielsen of Jones & DeMille Engineering provided an update on the town’s ongoing water infrastructure review and associated plans.
The first item on the regular agenda was discussion and possible action on Ordinance 3-2024 to hold construction companies liable for damage to town roads. Paul Cox suggested that liability should apply up to a year after a project’s completion. Language was added and the ordinance was unanimously passed.
The board then discussed a new hire for the maintenance department, as well as logistics for the upcoming town Easter Egg Hunt, Memorial Day and Apple Festival.
Town Clerk Melanie Dutson reported that the glitch in the water billing system has been fixed, and the board confirmed that sales of cemetery plot are for Glendale residents only.
Tabled for later discussion and possible was the cultivating and maintenance of the Main Street flower planters.
At 8:04 Mayor Spencer led a training for those in attendance around the Open and Public Meetings Act (OPMA), which is required annually. OPMA’s stated goal is to ensure that the state, its agencies and its political subdivisions deliberate and take action openly (Section 52-4-102).
The meeting was adjourned at 8:22 p.m.
