Originally born in Reno, Nevada, Nancy McGuffy has lived in Texas and Florida before making Kanab, Utah, her home. She moved to Utah in 2008 and lived off the grid for four years, from 2008 to 2012. As the oldest of her siblings, Nancy has always been part of a family-centered life. After graduating from high school, she embraced her love of learning and developed strong interest in natural healing and education.

Nancy spent many years as a stay-at-home mom and homeschooled four of her six children. She also provided daycare, sharing her time and care with other children and families. From 2008 to 2016, she managed Deer Springs Resort. She is currently self-employed, providing residential and commercial maintenance and cleaning services.

Family remains an important part of Nancy’s life. She is the proud mother of six children and grandmother to 11 grandchildren. In her free time, she enjoys hiking, gardening, reading, music, hunting and learning new things. She also enjoys learning and practicing Spanish and is currently learning to play the guitar. Her curiosity, love of learning and interest in natural healing reflect her lifelong desire to grow, explore and share knowledge with others.

One of Nancy’s favorite quotes captures her outlook on life: “Nobody can change the past, but anyone can start now and change the future.” We are excited to welcome Nancy to our school community and look forward to the knowledge, life experience and enthusiasm she will bring to her new role as a substitute teacher.

Born in Phoenix, Arizona, Sandra Lane is a Fredonia High School graduate who currently calls Fredonia, Arizona, home. Throughout her life, she has also lived in Pahrump, Nevada; Odessa, Texas; Tucson, Arizona; and Ephraim, Utah. She enjoys the small-town atmosphere of Fredonia and recognized a need for substitute teachers in the community. Believing she could help fill that need, Sandra decided to step into the classroom and share her time and talents with local students.

Sandra has a background in early childhood development, having attended college to study the subject. At one time, she also considered becoming a speech therapist. Her interest in working with children continues today, both through her education and her experience as a mother and homeschooling of four boys, aged four to 11.

Outside the classroom, Sandra works as a restaurant hostess and enjoys event planning, including organizing weddings. She stays busy raising her boys and enjoys reading, hiking, paddleboarding and rollerblading. She is also learning to play the drums, adding another adventure to her list of interests.

Sandra’s adventurous spirit was evident early on when she went skydiving on her 18th birthday! She also lives by a favorite saying that reflects her positive attitude toward learning and trying new things: “I don’t know how to do that ... yet!” This simple phrase captures her belief that learning is a process, and that new skills and challenges are always within reach.

We are happy to welcome Sandra to our school community and appreciate her willingness to help meet the needs of our students. We look forward to having her bring her enthusiasm, curiosity and love of learning into the classroom!
