On December 4, 2025, Congresswoman Celeste Maloy (R-UT) introduced legislation to honor the life and service of Deputy Sheriff Brian Harris, a Kane County Deputy who was killed in the line of duty. The bill would officially designate the United States Postal Service facility located at 35 South Main Street in Glendale, Utah, as the “Deputy Sheriff Brian Harris Post Office.”

“Deputy Brian Harris grew up in this community and spent his career protecting the people who raised him,” said Congresswoman Maloy. “He put himself in harm’s way to keep his hometown safe. Naming this post office after him reflects that bond and honors the sacrifice he made for his own neighbors.”
In 2010, Deputy Harris, a respected member of the Kane County Sheriff’s Office, was killed when responding to a dangerous situation that threatened the local community. His loss was deeply felt throughout southern Utah, particularly in small towns where his service and presence made a profound impact.
“Deputy Brian Harris was one of the most caring and helpful people I’ve ever had the opportunity to work with,” said Kane County Sheriff Tracy Glover. “His murder marks the only line of duty death ever recorded in Kane County. Our community still mourns his death today. I know I can speak for every member of our community, and especially in the law enforcement community, when I say thank you, Congresswoman Maloy. It will be an honor to have Brian’s name on the building his mother worked in for so many years.”

“This designation recognizes a deputy, shaped by this place and its people, whose service never wavered,” Maloy continued. “Glendale and the surrounding towns remember Deputy Harris for his steady presence and deep roots here. I’m grateful to work with local leaders and the Harris family to ensure his name remains part of the community he served.”
The bill will be referred to the House Committee on Oversight and Accountability, which has jurisdiction over the United States Postal Service.
