KANAB — Utah Democratic Party leaders from around the state gathered in Kanab on Saturday, August 8, for the party’s third-quarter State Central Committee meeting at the Kanab Center.
According to the Kane County Democratic Party, state party leaders selected Kane County as the site for the quarterly meeting as part of an effort to increase involvement and support for Democratic organizations in rural Utah. The meeting was also available online to Democratic leaders around the state.

Before the committee meeting, Kane County Democratic leaders met in a closed-door session with state party leadership to discuss local issues and ways the state organization could support Democrats in Kane County.
“We are so excited to host this meeting,” Kane County Democratic Party Chair Caralee Woods said. “Whenever we come together as a party, we get stronger. Kane County is lifted by the support we’ve received at the State Party level, and we know other rural Utah counties feel the same.”
The State Central Committee meeting focused on party business and brought together local Democratic leaders, state party officials, candidates and supporters.
Following the meeting, the Kane County Democratic Party hosted a barbecue potluck dinner and silent auction in the Kanab Center ballroom. More than 60 people attended the evening event, which served as a fundraiser for the county party.
Woods also thanked Kanab Center staff for their assistance in planning and setting up the events.
The State Central Committee serves as a governing body of the Utah Democratic Party and includes party representatives from across Utah.
