Sharon was born in Kane County Hospital; Dr. Aiken was her physician and Sharon Willis RN was his assistant. Sharon’s mother Arelene Lathim was concerned during the delivery process and told Nurse Willis, “If she’s a girl, I’m going to name her Sharon.”

Sharon explains, “We lived in Saint George for about eight years where Jordan was born. Then we moved to Las Vegas, we were there for nine months … I told Jim I’m done, take me home.” Jim was in high end construction while Sharon was at home tending Jordan. “I waited almost six years to get her, and I wasn’t going to let anyone else raise her.” Six years after Jordan, TJ came along.

Sharon’s first job was at the original Nedra’s, near where she grew up in Fredonia. “I only worked weekends. Jim tended Jordan while I worked.” She also worked at Houston’s, first washing dishes then onto busing and then waiting tables.

She worked with Elva Lee. We giggled, Elva was tough but a doll. Sharon added, “She would take me to work. I would sleep in her car until she would wake me up to go to work.”

When Head Start opened in Fredonia, it was right up Sharon’s lane. She loves kids and it showed in every discussion we started. “You wouldn’t believe what I learned. I learned so much about kids.” She worked with Head Start from day one and stayed for the next 19 years when it was closed.

She virtually glows when talking about her children or grandchildren. “Jordan is a Hospice RN, she loves it. That is something you don’t just throw yourself into, she is a fine hospice nurse.” Jordan and Dan have four children, Jaylie, Amilya, Brooklyn and Kanyon.

Retiring in January 2025, from Create Room, where she worked until she could retire. Giving Sharon the opportunity to do what she absolutely loves and had waited for. “I’m living the dream. I’m beyond grateful to do what I’m doing. It is something I can do to make Jordan’s life easier.” She tends the grandkids and makes sure they know they are loved.

“TJ and Katie have two fur babies.” She sits up a little straighter and beams, “He’s in training to become a lineman for Garkane. I’m very proud and very scared. Jordan saw him up a pole one day and stopped to take a photo he yelled down to her,

“Don’t show mom she gets nervous.” She settles a bit then adds, “I didn’t know he wanted to become a lineman, but I’m really proud of him. He is also guides for hunters.

Jim and Sharon camp a couple of times a year and go on family vacations. They always work in a few trips a year to watch the Diamond Backs. She has promised Jaylie a ticket to go with her and grandpa to see the Diamond Backs when she graduates eighth grade.
