The Golden Spoon awards highlight top restaurants and culinary professionals across Utah, with recognition typically going to larger metro areas such as Salt Lake City, Park City and St. George. Sego’s inclusion places the local restaurant among the state’s most respected dining destinations and reflects growing attention on rural culinary standouts.

Since opening, Sego has built a reputation for a seasonal, ingredient-driven menu with a Southwestern influence, pairing local sourcing with refined technique. Foster’s approach emphasizes balance and consistency, earning praise from both visitors and industry peers who pass through southern Utah.

The award brings added visibility to Kanab’s evolving food scene and underscores the role small, independent restaurants can play in shaping Utah’s broader culinary landscape, particularly in tourism-driven communities where dining is increasingly part of the destination experience.
