Meyeres, Lamb win Republican primaries

KANE COUNTY — Kane County voters selected Republican nominees for county offices Tuesday while also weighing in on closely watched state and federal contests.

According to unofficial election results, all 11 Kane County precincts had reported by late Tuesday evening. Results remain subject to canvassing and certification.

The closest local race was for Kane County Commis­sion Seat B, where Celeste Meyeres defeated Matthew LeGrand Cox. Meyeres re­ceived 942 votes, or 56.82 percent, compared to Cox’s 716 votes, or 43.18 percent.

“Thank you to the com­munities of Kane County for the decisive win in the primary tonight,” Meyeres said. “I’m grateful for all of the encouragement I’ve received along the way, and hopeful as we head into the November general election.”

In the race for Kane Coun­ty Clerk/Auditor, Chameill Lamb won a decisive victory over Martin Hepworth. Lamb received 1,130 votes, or 69.37 percent, while Hep­worth received 499 votes, or 30.63 percent.

“I would like to express my thanks to Kane County voters for participating in the Republican primary election. Every vote matters,” Lamb said. “I am truly grateful for the support you have given me, and I look forward to continuing to serve Kane County with professionalism, transparency and in­tegrity.”

County voters also favored incumbent U.S. Rep. Celeste Maloy in the Republi­can primary for Utah’s 3rd Congressional Dis­trict. In Kane County, Maloy received 1,137 votes, or 69.67 percent, compared to 495 votes, or 30.33 percent, for challenger Phil Ly­man.

The congressional race drew statewide attention as a rematch between Maloy and Lyman, who competed in the closely contested 2024 Republican pri­mary.

In the Republican primary for Utah House District 69, Logan J. Monson car­ried Kane County with 1,048 votes, or 66.88 percent, while Daniel Gardner received 519 votes, or 33.12 percent.

The winners will ad­vance to the November general election.

Election officials will continue processing eligible ballots before results are officially canvassed and certi­fied in the coming weeks.
