Lady Cowboys keep it going strong in the second round of the playoffs

The Lady Cowboys ride into the state tournament as the #2 seeded team and hosted the Millard Eagles in the second round of the playoffs last Friday night for a rematch of the last game of the season. The Cowboys jumped out to an early 17-3 lead despite a lot of turnovers. Millard fought and scrapped their way back in the second quarter by putting up 10 points to the Cowboys 12. The Cowboys kept control leading 29-13 at halftime.

The Cowboys were able to break the game open as Ashlynn Houston caught fire in the second half, adding five threes for the game, for 17 points. The Eagles weren’t able to find an answer offensively or defensively as the towering Rylee Little punched in 16 points, with Anna Cutler adding 12 points.

The Lady Cowboys keep their tradition by having a well-rounded scoring attack and letting the second squad close out the game 66- 42 to advance to the quarterfinals.

The Cowboys will face another region foe in the quarterfinal matchup against the #10 ranked Enterprise Wolves at 5:50 p.m., on Thursday, February 22. In the two meetings previously this year, the Cowboys took care of the Wolves 75-57 in January, and then 68- 45 earlier this month. While the scores don’t always show it, the Lady Cowboys will have their work cut out for them as they continue their quest. Come cheer them on in Cedar City this week.
