Kane Education Foundation celebrates a summer of learning, fun and community support

KANE COUNTY — The Kane Education Foundation is celebrating another successful summer filled with hands-on learning, community partnerships and programs that made a lasting impact on children throughout Kane County.

• The Fourth of July Color Run was Kane Education Foundation’s biggest fundraiser of the year.

One of the highlights of the summer was our Preschool Summer Science Camp for children aged four to six. Held every Tuesday in June at the Kanab City Park, the camp welcomed approximately 50 young learners each week. Campers explored all things Earth science through activities focused on wind and water erosion, rocks, fossils and everyone’s favorite, dinosaurs!

A special thank you goes to Katja Knoll and her incredible team from the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) for sharing their knowledge and enthusiasm while teaching the children all about dinosaurs. We are also so grateful to the SUU STEM Center for Teaching and Learning and the Kane County Commissioners for funding this wonderful program and making it possible for so many children to participate at no cost.

The Foundation was also proud to partner with Kane County 4-H by helping fund and teach at their two-day STEM Camp for 40 local students. It was an amazing two days full of hands-on experiences that encouraged curiosity, creativity and problem-solving.

Another exciting highlight of the summer was our annual Fourth of July Color Run, which was our biggest fundraiser of the year. With nearly 400 runners participating, the event was a huge success and raised funds to support programs that benefit children throughout Kane County. These programs include the Dolly Parton Imagination Library, art in the Library, summer counseling services, STEM education and many other educational opportunities. A special thank you goes to Kanab City Recreation for sponsoring this year’s Color Run and to the Kanab High School Cheerleaders for volunteering at the color stations and helping make the event such a fun and memorable experience for everyone involved.

Thanks to the generosity of our sponsors, volunteers, participants and community supporters, the Kane Education Foundation is able to support high-quality learning experiences for more than 1000 students across Kane County each year.
