Kanab Youth fair well at the 2022 Butch Cassidy 5k and 10k

In the early morning hours of Saturday, November 12, 2022, 14 runners from Kanab made the trek through Zion National Park to Springdale to compete in the 2022 Butch Cassidy 5k and 10k. Both races start in Springdale and end in Grafton, Utah. It has been a Zion Canyon tradition for over 25 years.

Starting with the 10k. Kanab High School’s, Tyson Brinkerhoff was the overall winner of the 10k race with a time of 35:09.0. He beat out his cross-country coach, Levi LeFevre who came in second with a time of 36:37.3. Daxton Jones came in fourth in 39:06.4, with fellow teammate Jackson Clark rounded out the high school field.


Kanab Elementary School fourth grader, Slade Clark was the top finisher in his age division in the 10k, running a time of 55:55.5, and classmate, Reed Smith followed in second place. Youth cross country coach Megan Smith rounded out the Kanab 10k showing.



The 5k had some excellent representation as well. KHS Cross Country star Kenidee Glazier won the 5k with a time of 20:12.7. Karter Glazier was second in her age division (beat only by her older sister) with a time of 30:40.6. Other Glazier representation included fourth grader Kollins (who won her age division) and mom, Brooke who took second in hers. It truly was a day for KES fourth graders, as TJ LeFevre won his age division of the 5k as well, with a time of 31:07.3. Tyler Brinkerhoff took third in his age division and Samantha LeFevre rounded out the Kanab 5k group, taking first in her age division.
