Kanab marks 25th anniversary of 9/11 with memorial walk
Kanab firefighters and community members gathered Friday, September 11, for an annual memorial walk honoring the firefighters and others who lost their lives in the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks.

The observance began with a 9 a.m. ceremony at the Kanab Fire Station conducted by the American Legion. Following the ceremony, firefighters set out on a 3.43-mile walk through Kanab in remembrance of the 343 firefighters who died at the World Trade Center.
Members of the public were invited to join the walk or gather along the route, which traveled from the fire station through portions of Cowboy Way and Main Street before returning to the station.
This year’s observance marked 25 years since the attacks, which killed nearly 3,000 people in New York City, at the Pentagon and near Shanksville, Pennsylvania.
Kanab City thanked those who participated and recognized firefighters, law enforcement officers, EMS personnel and other public safety professionals who continue to serve their communities.
“Thank you to those who participate and those who cheer us on in remembrance of the innocent lives lost and pay tribute to those who sacrificed everything,” the Kanab City Fire Department said ahead of the walk.
