In the most classic and classy of high school events, the Kanab High School Class of 2024 celebrated Promenade on Saturday, April 15. The theme, “Red Carpet,” put a Hollywood twist on the evening, with named stars on the walls, and a grand theater banner announcing the class in the style of an old-fashioned theater feature - with the potential for a limousine rental included for the evening!
The dance began in earnest at eight o’clock, with the introduction of the Juniors of the class coming down the thematic red carpet, followed by the promenade dance, set to Taylor Swift’s Long Live, - a song appropriately themed around how far everyone has come, gratitude for those who helped them get there and the potential that the future holds.
Britton Little and Haylie McQuivey were awarded Prom King and Queen respectively; Karter Ramsay and Emrey Kabonic were chosen for Prince and Princess; and Maddix Baird and Adisyn Daley, the Duke and Duchess. The traditional parents’ dance followed, after which the structure of the evening gave way to fun and freeform.
Per one of the dance’s attendees, the festivities began to slow at around ten o’clock as the dancers began trickling out. The school thanked teacher Austin Walker for MC’ing the evening and helping to make the night special for everyone.
