A day of learning and laughter at Staheli Farm
On October 19, 2026, the kindergarten through second grade students of Fredonia Elementary School enjoyed a fun and exciting field trip to Staheli Farm in Washington, Utah. It was a day filled with learning, exploration and wonderful memories outside the classroom.

The adventure began in a small hall at the farm, where the students gathered to listen to the farmers explain what to expect during their visit. As the farmers gave their instructions, the students listened carefully, but the excitement on their faces was hard to hide. Everyone was eager to see what the farm had in store for them!
After the orientation, the students headed to the pumpkin patch, where everyone gathered for a special storytelling activity featuring Spookley the Square Pumpkin. What made the story even more exciting was that the students became part of it; every time the storyteller gave the signal, the children enthusiastically shouted, “square pumpkin!”
Once the story ended, the farmers explained which pumpkins the students could pick and which ones they should leave behind. To make the activity even more exciting, five handmade square pumpkins were hidden around the patch for the students to find. Each class was also given one pumpkin to bring back to school as a reminder of their farm adventure.
The learning did not stop at the pumpkin patch! With the help of their farmer guide, students learned interesting facts about the animals, including what people get from them, how to properly care for them and even their individual names. It was a wonderful opportunity for the children to connect what they learn inside the classroom with what they see in the real world.
After exploring and learning about the farm, the students had the chance to enjoy the farm’s playground. From sliding and climbing to running around and exploring the different play areas, there was plenty of fun and excitement for everyone. The playground was filled with happy faces, laughter and children making memories with their classmates. It was definitely one of the highlights of the trip!
The field trip was more than just a day away from the classroom. It gave the students an opportunity to learn through real experiences, ask questions, explore their surroundings and enjoy time with their classmates.
