It is with great pride and joy that we celebrate one of our very own, Danni Waters, who was recently selected as the Arizona Student of the Month. This prestigious honor is awarded by the Arizona State Board of Education to two outstanding students each month and Danni was chosen for her exceptional character, leadership and commitment to excellence.

Danni’s nomination came from Mrs. Cole, who recognized her remarkable dedication and spirit. The Board carefully reviews nominations from across the state and selects students who reflect the values of hard work, perseverance and care for others. Danni described the moment she found out about the award as “super shocked and excited.”
As part of the recognition, Danni had the unique opportunity to speak during a virtual meeting with the Arizona State Board of Education. Although she felt nervous at first, she described the experience as a true privilege. “I felt heard and respected,” she shared. In her message, she spoke about herself, her family, the staff and the amazing teachers at Fredonia High School. She called the experience “so perfect” and said it was something she had never done before.
To prepare for the speech, Danni submitted her draft two weeks in advance and spent time reading and practicing the day before and morning of the meeting to calm her nerves and feel ready.
Danni is a shining example of what makes Fredonia High School so special. “What I love most is that everyone here - students, teachers and administrators - wants to see each other succeed and support one another,” she said. She credits her family and all of her teachers for inspiring her and helping her grow.
A well-rounded student, Danni has participated in cheer, volleyball, basketball and softball. She has also been involved in the science fair and served in class leadership. Outside of school, she enjoys spending time with her family and boyfriend, traveling, camping and playing as much softball as possible.

Danni shared that sports are a big motivation for her. They drive her to stay focused, work hard and give back to her community. Her goals include earning her CNA while still in high school, attending a small-town college to continue playing softball and eventually becoming a registered nurse. She also hopes to one day get married and start a family of her own.
When asked what advice she would give to others, Danni said, “No matter what people say, prove them wrong. Keep your head up and do what is best for you at all times.” If she had to describe her journey in one word, it would be “demand” - because when she sets her mind on something, she gets it done.
Congratulations Danni! Your determination, kindness and dedication truly inspire us all. We are so proud to call you one of our own.
