Fredonia Memorial Day Service

A good crowd gathered at the cemetery Monday to honor those who served and those that gave their lives in the preservation of our freedom. We are grateful for all who served before and are serving today.

From left to right:

  • Alden Wadleigh served aboard the light aircraft carrier USS Cabot during WWll. On November 25, 1944, the Cabot was on patrol off the Philippine Island of Luzon conducting strikes in support of operations ashore. During an attack, two kamikaze aircraft struck the port side and flight deck of the carrier. 62 men were killed or wounded during the attack. Alden was severely wounded and hospitalized for a year.

  • Veterans, left to right: Ron Johnson, Bill Holliday, Earl Cram, Alden Wadleigh and Darrell Heaton.

  • Members of the Kanab American Legion Post 69.
