Fredonia Lynx football end the season with a win!

The Fredonia High School Football team made the long trip to Mayer to play their final game of the season last Friday. Even though it was Friday the 13th, the superstitions must have been on the Lynx side because they came away with a huge win of 49-6!

“Ended our season with a win,” Coach Brandon Tait said. “We had all but one player back from injuries. Offense looked good and defense was excellent. The boys played well as a team, resulting in a positive end to their season. I’m proud of my seniors, Jones, Ford and Tyler Cutchen. They led the team well this season.”

Treyston Jones finished the game with 71 yards rushing, 116 yards passing and a rushing touchdown. Brayden Ford had 207 yards rushing, 43 yards receiving and 35 yards passing. Kolton Wilmarth rushed 119 yards and three touchdowns with one touchdown resulting from an interception! Paul Woods totaled 88 yards receiving.

“Even with the great game from Jones and Ford, Wilmarth had a breakout game,” said Coach Tait. “A lot of positives from our underclassmen as well.” What a great way for the Lynx to end their season! Through difficult times and situations, they stayed diligent and ended on a positive note! Those who coach are appreciated by the community for the time and effort they put into the boys and the football program.

Coach Tait’s final comments for the season were, “Many thanks to all who support me through the season. My assistant coaches Isaac Yracheta, Nate Tait, Mckenna Yracheta, our Athletic Director Amanda Waters and Benita Yracheta for film.”
