Fredonia Library hosted the last summer reading event as a joint venture with Claudia Thomas from Kanab Create earlier this month. Claudia led everyone through the process of learning and then creating an art piece with alcohol ink.

The class was a perfect mix of beginners and seasoned artists. Alcohol ink was an enjoyable medium to use and each person ended with one or two beautifully unique art pieces. Claudia is a natural at producing a relaxed environment where we could all feel free to learn through trial and error with no judgement.
Overall, the library summer reading program was a success and with the theme of “Color Our World” there wasn’t a better way to wrap up the season full of activities. Fredonia Library has plans to continue promoting local art in the community with a new digital screen in the lobby that will rotate through images of art from local artists and events coming up in the area. If you are interested in submitting art to be shown please contact Sheena Cram, library director, at library@fredoniaaz.gov.
Claudia Thomas will be hosting some seasonal art classes in the near future and you can follow her at “Kanab Create” on Facebook for more information.
