On the morning of Monday June 2, sometime around 7 a.m., a walker noticed an individual collapsed on the sidewalk of Kanab’s Center Street, between the Parry Lodge and the Shell gas station, apparently not breathing - the witness approached the street to flag down a passing ambulance, which was transporting another emergency response patient to the Kane County Hospital. The ambulance stopped to deploy one emergency medical responder and gear, before proceeding to complete the ongoing emergency drop-off.
The single responder managed the scene, with CPR help from the reporting individual, until the ambulance and backup could return. Following medical response, law enforcement and fire response were deployed for investigation and traffic control. The patient was ruled deceased on-scene.
The deceased individual was transported to the medical examiner’s office - while results are pending, further investigation into the identity of the individual shows a history of cardiac conditions that may have contributed to their passing.
