Community members, chamber representatives and county officials gather May 14 outside Kane County’s new resource building in downtown Kanab following a ribbon cutting ceremony hosted after the chamber’s monthly luncheon.
On May 1, chamber members and local residents gathered for the grand opening of Los Tapatios Mexican Restaurant in Kanab. Chamber vice president Ron Thomas welcomed attendees before introducing co-owner Henry Cisneros.
Cisneros said Los Tapatios is the third restaurant opened by the ownership team, which also operates locations in St. George and Flagstaff. He thanked the Kanab community for its support and said the restaurant aims to offer authentic Mexican cuisine to both local residents and visitors.
Following the ribbon cutting, attendees joined the restaurant staff and owners for a community dinner inside the new establishment.
On May 14, chamber members gathered for their monthly luncheon before participating in a ribbon cutting for Kane County’s newly completed resource building complex at 172 East 100 North, Building D, in downtown Kanab.
The new multi-department facility houses the Kane County Care and Share food bank, Recovery Court, the county Buildings and Grounds Department and additional storage for Kane County events.
According to county officials, the project was funded through a combination of opioid settlement funds, transient room tax revenues and general county funds.
County leaders said the facility is intended to improve access to services by allowing residents to connect with multiple county resources in one location, including food assistance and Recovery Court programs.
Following the ceremony, attendees toured the new building and visited with county staff and officials. “The Chamber is always pleased and excited to be a part of events like these,” chamber president Pat Guerrero said. “The ribbon cuttings we participate in generate awareness in the community as well as build relationships among neighbors, local leaders and business owners.”
