KANAB — The Catori Canyon PRCA Heritage Rodeo drew record-level crowds, international visitors and top regional competitors to Kanab last weekend, continuing its rise as one of southern Utah’s fastest-growing rodeo events.

Held at the Kaneplex Arena beneath Kanab’s red cliffs, the rodeo featured more than 300 contestant entries and nearly $80,000 in total payouts. Organizers estimated roughly 1,400 spectators attended Saturday night’s performance alone.
Rodeo Committee Chair Camberly Anderson said visitors traveled from across the region and several foreign countries to attend the event.
“Visiting with attendees, we had wonderful representation by our hometown locals as well as visitors from Sweden, Australia, Canada and the Netherlands,” Anderson said.
The event has quickly become a popular stop for competitors traveling the Mountain States Circuit summer rodeo schedule. Organizers said Kanab’s location between larger rodeos in Window Rock and Herriman has helped attract both contestants and spectators.
All-Around Champion Cole Eiguren earned $2,184 while competing in both tie-down roping and team roping.
The rodeo also featured specialty entertainers Rider and Bethany Kiesner, along with a performance by the Western Star Drill Team from Piute County.
Representing local rodeo royalty were Addison Ketchner, Jaycee Lathim, Lizzie Reese, Miss Kane County CreeAnne Anderson, Liza Rogers and Allie Corry. Visiting royalty included the Arizona Rodeo Teen Queen, the Turquoise Circuit Rodeo Queen and the Utah Rodeo Queen.
Anderson said contestants consistently praise the hospitality they receive in Kanab.
“When I ask contestants for feedback, almost unanimously they say they love the rodeo hospitality they receive,” Anderson said. “They tell us it’s like coming home.”
The rodeo was produced by Honeycutt Rodeo Company and included support from several contractors, announcers and volunteers. Organizers said continued community support and the arena’s scenic setting are helping establish Kanab as a growing destination on the PRCA circuit.
