The owners of Brown Box say the café will reopen Monday, February 9, following the replacement of several windows broken earlier this month.

The damage occurred overnight January 5 - 6, when rocks were thrown through multiple windows at the Center Street business. No injuries were reported and no arrests have been announced. As of this week, authorities have not released information identifying a suspect or explaining a motive.
The café is co-owned by Lacee Brown and Emily Koelliker. Brown said the response from the community helped carry the business through an unexpected and difficult disruption.
“We are incredibly grateful for the outpouring of support from this community,” Brown said. “It’s moments like this that remind us why we’re so proud to call Kanab home. We can’t wait to welcome everyone back on February 9 and keep doing what we love - serving this amazing town.”
Following the incident, the café temporarily closed while repairs were completed. New windows have since been installed, and the building has been fully secured.
In the days after the damage was discovered, community members shared messages of encouragement, stopped by to check on the business and expressed eagerness to see the café reopen. The owners said that support reinforced the café’s role as a neighborhood gathering spot.
The café plans to resume regular operations when it reopens Monday.
