Valley Fitness opens in Orderville through town-school partnership

ORDERVILLE — Community members gathered Saturday, July 11, to celebrate the grand opening and ribbon cutting of Val­ley Fitness, a new com­munity fitness center created through a partnership between the Town of Orderville and the Kane County School District. The Kanab Area Chamber of Commerce hosted the ceremony, with Orderville Mayor Ray Spencer cutting the ribbon.

Located in one of the former ambulance bays just south of the Orderville Town Of­fice, Valley Fitness offers local residents an affordable place to exercise. Member­ships are available for $10 per month, along with a one-time, non­refundable $10 key fob fee for building access.

The project is the result of a partnership between the Town of Orderville and the Kane County School District. Under a three-year agreement, exercise equipment owned by the school district will remain at Valley Fitness while a new fitness space is constructed at the school. Rather than placing the equip­ment in storage, the partnership allows it to remain in use while providing a valuable resource for the com­munity.

Kane County School Board member Jarad Brinkerhoff attended the grand opening and spoke on behalf of the school district. He ex­pressed appreciation for the partnership, noting that the ar­rangement benefits both organizations by keeping the equip­ment in use while making it available to local residents.

Orderville Town Treasurer Chelcie Cox thanked the many volunteers who helped transform the former ambulance bay into a community fitness center.

“Several volunteers and community mem­bers contributed their time and effort in preparation for our opening,” Cox said. “Their work helped transform the former ambulance bay into a fitness center that will serve residents for years to come.”

Cox specifically thanked Shanna Frost and the FROST-ED crew, Shaun Sharkey, Ed Bolander, Steven Cox, Tom Chamber­lain and many other volunteers for their contributions.
