Anglers reel in big wins at annual fishing tournament

Jackson Flat Reservoir, April 11-12 2025: Sunny skies and a strong turnout marked this year’s seventh annual Reel Deal Fishing Tournament, where anglers of all ages cast their lines in hopes of hooking the big one. With impressive catches and plenty of friendly competition, the event was a resounding success.

In the Adult Division, Allen Orton took home first place and $850 with a combined catch weight of 10.73 lbs. Lee Burke earned second place and $500 with an 8.6 lb. combined weight, and Sam Orton claimed third place and $250 for a 7.5 lb. combined weight.



The Junior Division saw fierce competition as well. Emmie Warner secured first place and a $500 prize with an impressive 10.22 lb. combined weight. Logan White came in second, earning $250 with an 8.3 lb. combined weight, and Parker Swapp rounded out the top three with a 5 lb. combined weight, netting $100. Special category awards also added to the excitement:


• Largest Fish (Rainbow Trout): Logan White, 3.5 lbs. - $100

• Largest Bass: Tavin Glazier, 6.8 lbs. - $100

• Smallest Fish: Lee Burke, 0.9 lb. trout - $100


Organizers thanked participants, volunteers, and sponsors for making the tournament a highlight of the season. With great weather, strong community spirit and some truly impressive catches, this year’s event was one to remember. We want to remind you that you can still catch tagged fish and bring it in to the KCWCD office to redeem the associated prize until Monday, July 7. You are required to take a time-stamped photo of the fish when you catch it at the reservoir so we can confirm authenticity.
