On Wednesday, April 30, a semi-truck hauling solar panels and other electrical equipment overturned on Highway 89, in between mile markers 78 and 79 near the Elkheart Trailhead parking lot. According to sources on scene, the driver had likely overestimated his speed around the curves on the road causing the truck to tip and slide down the hillside.

The driver was seat-belted in and was mostly unharmed; he was able to climb out of the window of the vehicle to call for help and refused ambulance transportation or hospital care.
Local crews were on-scene by that afternoon to extract the vehicle and return it safely to the road, and responders confirmed the process was completed without major complication. The semi was recovered and towed from the turnover site same day.
