You would think that one of our three two-time weekly winners would have the inside track to win the grand prize in the SUN’s Pigskin Predictions football picking contest. The two-timers include OC Dale, who started out strong by winning two of the first three weeks, Don Corry, who won week #6 and #9 and Daniel Gilberg, winner of week #2 and #10. But of those three, only OC finished in the money, and he ended up in third place, $50 richer, with 61 of 100 picks chosen correctly. Coming in second place is perennial top three finisher Andrea Gilberg, who had 62 of 100 right, collecting a cool $150 in cash. And now, drum roll please … the 2022 Pigskin Grand Prize winner of $300 in cash is Kerry Glover. Kerry finished with 64 of the 100 games, with only one of his weekly picks less than six. Steady Kerry wins the cash … sorry Becca, Kerry says he gets to keep all the winnings.
Finishing just out of the money were Homer Blankenship and Scott Buckner, who both tallied 59. Don Corry was next in line with 58, while Becca Glover, Daniel Gilberg, Gwen Corson and April Riddle each had 57. I was one back with 56, edging out Jo McFadden and David Williams, who had 55 apiece. For those who care, in the couple’s battles, Homer was six better than Pat, 59-53; April was five better than Donnie, 57-52; while newcomers John and Allison Bacialli were close with John’s 54 six better than Allison’s 48.
I don’t know what happened to Neal Brown, he and his son Kyle quit playing after just three weeks. But I do know what happened to Mike Davis, he’s not very good at this game. Mike, you should delete the betting apps on your phone. It would save you a lot of money.
Thanks to all who participated in this fun little game that costs nothing to play.
