Paria RIVERFEST! to be celebrated at the Paria Outpost

On May 18, there will be a free event called RIVERFEST!, open to the public. From 12 - 9 p.m., Utah time, RIVERFEST! will entertain with music and a craft fair at the Paria Outpost, about halfway between Page and Kanab, on US Highway 89.

The event is free to attend. Gundy and the Gurus will play at 6 p.m., there will be an open microphone for those who wish to perform at the 25th anniversary celebration and food booth and trucks as well.

Steve and Susan Dodson built Paria Outpost in 1998. The first RIVERFEST! was held in 2000 in spring and fall through 2015 a total of around thirty events. Since then, the building has been the headquarters of Paria Outfitters.

The Dodsons have been guiding hikers into the Grand Staircase and Vermilion Cliffs on a variety of guided tours. They have decided to list the property for sale, but not without a big celebration. The Dodsons are reviving Riverfest this year to celebrate two and a half decades of great times. While the restaurant hasn’t been open in some time, this weekend food vendors will prepare and serve food to the public, and shoppers will be able to shop a variety of art and crafts at booths being offered at no charge to the artists.

RIVERFEST! is sponsored by the Dodsons and co-sponsored by Berkshire Hathaway real estate in Kanab. Musicians and vendors interested in participating should contact Angie Woodberry at 435-899-9931.
