Utah State University Extension Kane County is pleased to announce that the 21st Master Gardener Program will be held in spring 2025 in Kanab and online. The course provides specialized training for participants in gardening and landscaping in southern Utah. This year, we will keep collaborating with the Iron County Master Gardener and the Washington County Master Gardener for several field day series on mushroom production, high tunnel production, peach tree pruning and apple tree pruning.
The classes will be on Tuesdays and Thursdays from January 7, 2025, to February 27. The classes are from 6 - 8:30 p.m. The class will be in-person or through Zoom based on the attendee’s choices. The location will be the Southwest Applied Technology building at 733 South Cowboy Way, Kanab. This course is sponsored by the Utah State University Extension Service, the City of Glendale and Crosby’s Home and Farm. The instructors are from the university, county offices, and other regional gardening professional services.
The early bird registration for the class is $100 per person. The cost of enrolling in supervised community service is $25 per registrant. The fee includes one standard soil testing kit, a Utah Trees & Wildflowers pocket guide and a digital copy of the following books: Utah Master Gardener Manual 2024, Utah Herbaceous Plant, Utah Vegetable Gardening Guide, and Common Garden Weed in Utah, one standard soil testing kit and a Utah Trees & Wildflowers pocket guide. A scholarship program is available with limited terms and spots. Special discounts also apply to surrounding EMTs, veterans and postal service workers.
