Kane County Hospital celebrates opening of new behavioral services building in Kanab

A crowd gathered on May 21, at a newly remodeled building on 300 North in Kanab. Kanab Area Chamber of Commerce vice president Ron Thomas welcomed everyone and brought out the red ribbon and giant scissors that signify the unveiling of something new. That something new was Kane County Hospital’s behavioral services building. The remodel was complete and everyone was there to celebrate the newly opened location for the Senior Life Solutions program. Hospital CEO Kurt Loveless thanked everyone for coming and shared that Senior Life Solutions is designed to meet the unique mental health needs of older adults.

This program can meet the needs of individuals typically 65 and older who may be experiencing any of the following: acting as a caregiver, chronic health conditions, decreased energy, difficulty sleeping or eating, feeling lonely or isolated, feelings of uncertainty and worry, life transitions, loss of a loved one or a pet, loss of interest or recent health diagnosis.

Patients will be offered group, individual and family therapy from a licensed therapist and given tools to process their loss of independence, loss of loved one and many other life changes associated with aging. Many individuals who attend the program experience improved physical health as they learn how to care for their emotional and mental health, including less frequent doctor and emergency department visits.

The Senior Life Solutions program staff were all on hand to celebrate and include a board-certified psychiatrist, licensed therapist, registered nurse and other trained professionals to ensure the best possible care. Anyone can refer an individual to the program, including physicians, family members, self-referrals or other healthcare professionals.

If you or someone you know could benefit from this program, contact the Kane County Hospital’s Senior Life Solutions as (435) 644- 4182.
