Farmers Market Spotlight - Ron’s Fresh Baked Banana Bread

“When it comes to baking, Ron doesn’t monkey around,” and it’s true! Ron Thomas is the owner and operator of Ron’s Fresh Baked Banana Bread, for which he owns a Cottage License from the State of Utah. There are three kinds of Banana Bread that he bakes including classic, chocolate and walnut. Thomas is also willing to bake special vegan and gluten free items, for regular customers who ask, using rice and tapioca flours along with applesauce and coconut oil.

Thomas used to own an ice cream shop in Florida, where he started making banana bread just for himself and his wife, Claudia. The delicious smell would waft through the shop causing customers to inquire about it. This gave him the opportunity to begin selling banana bread to anyone who asked about it.


Five years ago, Thomas and his wife moved to Kanab, and he decided he was going to run his business out of his home instead of a storefront, acquiring a direct-to-consumer license. He also sells his banana bread to local businesses such as Taro Coffee, Hampton Inn and Dark Sky RV Park.

Thomas stated his favorite part about the farmers market is the camaraderie created between vendors, and the general concept of a farmers’ market, saying, “I love the concept of being around other vendors who I know have made their own products, not buying it from somewhere else.”
