Hundreds of attendees gathered together at the Coral Pink Sand Dunes over the weekend of March 23 - word had spread that a special Easter time visitor had come a little early this year, and there were eggs and sweet treats to be found.

Indeed, in a collaboration between Kane County’s Office of Tourism and the Utah Department of Natural Resources (DNR), park staff and county employees helped stuff and hide thousands of Easter eggs around the sand dunes for locals and visitors to go find. According to a statement from Kane County’s commission, attendance was good, and while attendees were mostly local families, there were also a few visitors from out of town who participated as well.
This year featured the inaugural appearance of the Easter Bunny, as portrayed by Kanab local Nicholas Meyeres, posing for pictures with the kids and helping the hunt along. Ranger Patrick Buhr of the DNR offered his and the department’s gratitude to everyone who played along with the hunt and those who made it happen, including the Kane County Office of Tourism for donating the candy, and Candi Croft and Krysta Wendelboe for helping to coordinate the egg stuffing.
The reviews of the event are generally positive. It would seem participants generally had a good time, with the only common complaint being that the season is still a little chilly, and the families involved are ready for the weather to warm up!
