The fifth annual Kanab Film Fest & Food Frenzy presented by Dark Sky returns this year April 27 – 30, with another fun, fresh movie genre theme, this year it’s 60s Pool Party. The Quail Park Lodge at the edge of town is the perfect venue for the opening night themed costume kickoff pool party as well as being the host site for filmmakers and organizers all weekend.

A film fest is a really neat way for amateur filmmakers from all over the world to showcase their work and get audience feedback. The Kanab Film Fest receives submissions in a variety of formats and genres from all over the world, from which their judging panel picks the best and then are shown over three days at the historic Redstone Theater in downtown Kanab. These films are shown in blocks of three hours, in which they screen several short films and one feature length. Breaks for local events and workshops are scheduled in between the film blocks to enhance the festival experience. The exciting culmination of the event is the emceed award ceremony, to which many of the local and international filmmakers attend and are awarded in several categories including Best Feature, Best Short Film, Best Student film, among many others.
The Food Frenzy really takes this event to the next level. Every ticket includes a catered meal from local eateries prior to the film blocks and all the candy and drinks you can handle, essentially turning this into an all-inclusive marriage of entertainment and eats! This new take on a traditional film fest is the brainchild of the founders Britt and Jeff Roth, who get to bring their expertise from their former careers together in one amazing event that continues to get bigger and better each year.
