Robert Kaczowka is a multi-layered man whose passion directs his achievements and dreams of his future. Born in Poland, he relocated to Connecticut with his family at the very young age of one year old. They lived in a predominantly Polish community speaking both Polish and English with his family. Robert worked with his father, which instilled in him the desire to build and design. After high school graduation he attended the Connecticut Institute of Technology of Engineering.
At 28, wanderlust drew Robert “out west” to the California coast and Venice Beach. His cross-country travels took him through Utah, eventually leading him to Kanab. It was dark by the time he hit our end of the state, but the pull of our open spaces planted seeds which were to become his future home.
He continued to Venice Beach where he worked diligently building his engineering talents while adding to his base of knowledge. Always in the background he could feel the pull to return to Kanab, to learn about the area and get to know residents. After being involved with “mega” design projects such as hospital complexes, pharmacies and schools, he was ready to open his own practice.
Robert moved to Kanab in 2004 and started Mesa Design which keeps him involved with his work and our communities. He traveled back and forth for almost five years before the transition was complete.
Robert designs for projects primarily in Kane County making Kanab his home base. Best Friends, one of his first clients giving him some extraordinary contacts which in turn introduced him to a referral system which stretches across the western U.S.
However, there was still something missing in his life, so he took the leap and started looking for a partner online. That’s when he met Aimee Quaratino, a realtor/broker, in Colorado, and a year later they were married Twelve years of marriage and Robert is obviously still smitten with Aimee. He related, “I knew I didn’t want her to get away,” so they had to find a way to make it work. Aimee Kaczowka is committed to taking care of her mother, in Colorado, so she maintains her residence in Colorado while Robert loves Kanab, where the natural beauty of the area ignites his creative genius, and he maintains his residence and business. They make it work! Aimee loves Kanab, she loves the people and community and supporting the local businesses.
He is dedicated to our area, yes, the red dirt has stained his socks. Robert is involved in local projects and frequently provides his design expertise on a pro bono basis. “I see miracles here every day,” he states. He has soft spots for projects which will benefit the community or individuals in need, the Children’s Justice Center, Stellar Vista Observatory to name a couple. His outside interests include Mountain Biking, Robert helped build some of the trails, Road Biking, Kayaking and traveling.
Yep, the red dirt has him and he’s here to stay!
