Ancient Birds at Kanab Museum program on August 15 at 6 p.m.

The Kanab Museum invites the community to an evening of discovery with Ancient Ornithology and Continuity of the Corners on Friday, August 15, at 6 p.m., in the Buckskin Room of the Kanab Center.

Wildland biologist Charles LaRue will share the story of birds and feathers in the Four Corners region, from their place in prehistoric life, preserved in remarkable archaeological finds, to their continuing importance in modern Pueblo culture. The program offers a rare chance to see how traditions, imagery, and meaning have endured for centuries, carrying forward a deep connection between people and the natural world.

This special program is presented by the Kanab Museum, with funding from the Utah State Historic Preservation Office (USHPO). USHPO works to foster understanding of the past and encourage stewardship of Utah’s cultural heritage for future generations. Presentations like this strengthen that mission by bringing history into the present, connecting communities to the archaeological record, and inspiring care for the sites and traditions that tell Utah’s story. Additional support comes from the Kanab Center, whose staff generously provide an accessible and welcoming venue for community programs.
