Timothy Earl Jackson
February 26, 1968 – October 17, 2025

Timothy Earl Jackson, 57, of Hurricane, Utah, passed away peacefully with his family by his side at the VA Home in Ivins, Utah, on October 17, 2025, after a brief but courageous battle with glioblastoma.
Tim was born on February 26, 1968, to Melvin E. and Sheila M. Jackson at Williams Air Force Base in Chandler, Arizona. As the son of an Air Force family, Tim’s early life was filled with adventure - living in two foreign countries and several U.S. states before his family eventually settled in Utah.
He attended school in San Antonio, Texas, Lehi, and Hurricane, graduating from Hurricane High School in 1987. Shortly after graduation, Tim joined the Dixie National Forest wildland firefighting team, proudly helping to battle the great Yellowstone fires of 1988.
In 1989, he enlisted in the Utah Army National Guard, where he served with dedication and pride for more than 22 years. His deployments included the 2002 Utah Winter Olympics, Dugway Proving Grounds and Iraq during Operation Iraqi Freedom.
After retiring from the military, Tim continued his commitment to public service through work with the U.S. Forest Service and later Walmart, where he built lasting friendships with coworkers and customers alike.
Tim was happiest outdoors. He loved hunting, fishing, camping and exploring the backroads of southern Utah. He was also a devoted dinosaur enthusiast, with a particular fascination for paleontology and the prehistoric history of the region.
Tim’s greatest joy was his family. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, son, brother and uncle. His humor, loyalty and generous spirit made him a treasured presence in the lives of those who knew him.
He is survived by his wife, children, grandchildren, mother, siblings and extended family. He was preceded in death by his father.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Tim’s memory to organizations supporting veterans or glioblastoma research.
The Jackson family extends their heartfelt thanks to Applegate Hospice, Dixie Hospice and the VA Home for their compassionate care during Tim’s illness. To Court Pendleton for being in Tim’s corner when we needed him the most. LuEllen and the rest of his Walmart family for showing Tim so much love and support. Also to those that delivered food and hugs to keep us going while caring for Tim. Finally, a special thank you to the St. George Dinosaur Discovery Site for arranging a memorable visit that meant the world to Tim and his loved ones.
Arrangements entrusted to the care of Metcalf Hurricane Valley Mortuary, 435-635-9922. For condolences, full obituary and funeral listings please visit our website metcalfmortuary.com.
