Martin Louis Mathis, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on April 12, 2025, at the age of 82.

Martin was born June 23, 1942, in Los Angeles, California. He spent his early years in California before eventually making southern Utah his home, where he became a well-known and respected member of the community.

Martin married the love of his life, Carol, and together they shared many wonderful years, raising a family and creating a home filled with love, laughter, and kindness.

Martin had a lifelong love of the outdoors. He especially enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, and exploring the beautiful landscapes of southern Utah. He was also an accomplished craftsman who enjoyed working with his hands and helping family and friends with countless projects over the years.

Known for his generosity, sense of humor, and willingness to help others, Martin made lasting friendships wherever he went. He valued honesty, hard work, and time spent with those he loved.

He is survived by his wife, Carol; his children and their spouses; grandchildren and great-grandchildren; siblings; and many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and other beloved family members.

Funeral services were held Friday, April 18, 2025, at Mosdell Mortuary in Kanab, Utah. Interment followed in the Kanab Cemetery.
