Judith Ann (Judy) Schoenfeld-Gautier

September 24, 1949 – October 16, 2024

Judith Ann (Judy) Schoenfeld-Gautier passed away in her sleep on October 16, 2024, in Switzerland. She was 75 years old.

Judy was born on September 24, 1949, to Kenneth and Virgie Schoenfeld in Kanab, Utah. Judy grew up following her family around Utah and Arizona while her dad, Kenneth, worked as a heavy equipment operator, building roads and interstate highways, but Kanab was always the home base. She attended school in Kanab and Prescott, Arizona. Judy enjoyed playing with her siblings, cousins and friends.

Judy enjoyed knitting for her friends and family. She was excellent at it, creating afghans and sweaters. She enjoyed crocheting, tatting and macramé—almost any needlework. She loved spiders. Her favorite month was October, and she loved Halloween and brought it to Switzerland where she shared it with many of her and Andre's friends. She enjoyed finding coffee shops and making friends anywhere she went.

When Judy was 16, she married Joe Johns in Prescott, Arizona. Together, they had two children, Tulsi and Raymond. Later, in 1986, Judy and Joe divorced.

On December 16, 1988, Judy married Andre Gautier in Geneva, Switzerland. They were married for nearly 35 years, until Judy's death.

Judy is survived by her husband, Andre Gautier, of Choëx near Monthey, Switzerland; her daughter, Tulsi Esplin (Steve) of Cedar City, Utah; her son, Raymond Johns (Anjel) of Flagstaff, Arizona; her sister, Marsha Kay Hamblin (Joe Del Hamblin, deceased); her brother, Michael Anthony Schoenfeld (Luann Schoenfeld, deceased); grandchildren Brie Esplin Shelley (Choc) of St. George, Utah, Steven (Kassidy) Dale Esplin of Cedar City, Utah, and Mikele Esplin Sanders (Chris) of Lehi, Utah; great-grandchildren Addi Shelley, Blake Shelley, Lily Sanders and Oliver Sanders; the families of Andre's daughters Stefanie and Kerstin; his brother Jean-Michel Gautier and his family; his sister Martine and all their relatives in Switzerland and the USA.

She was preceded in death by her father, Julian Kenneth Schoenfeld; her mother, Virginia Julander Schoenfeld; and her brother, Kenneth Dale Schoenfeld.

There will be a memorial in remembrance of Judy on February 22 at 1 p.m. at the Kanab City Cemetery.

Services will be rendered by Mosdell Mortuary.
