Christian Aaron Oviatt passed away on August 14, 2026, at the age of 54. He was born in Las Vegas, Nevada, to Debra Excell Oviatt Harmon and Floyd Rulon Oviatt. He spent much of his childhood moving throughout Nevada and Utah before returning to the Las Vegas area as a teenager, where he graduated from Basic High School.

Christian married Ginger Spears Oviatt Iverson, and together they spent 24 years raising their four children: Elijah Bradley Oviatt (Jaqui Trandler), Xarrissa Lei Sweetwood (Jaden), Echo Briann DeGraaf (Steven) and Benjamin Gabriel Oviatt. Their family made homes in the Las Vegas area, Kanab and Cedar City before Christian and Ginger divorced. In the years that followed, Christian shared a loving relationship with Melinda Mabbutt, who became an important and cherished part of his life. He was also a very proud Papa to Hazel Novi DeGraaf, age four, and Vola Jean DeGraaf, age two, who could make his heart smile bigger than just about anything.

Christian loved the outdoors and was happiest with a fishing pole, rifle or bow in hand. He was known for his big bear hugs, infectious smile and sense of humor. In August 2023, he suffered an aortic dissection that changed his life significantly and ultimately left him legally blind. Although he lost much of his independence, Christian continued to move forward, rarely complained and remained grateful for the life and relationships around him.

Christian was the oldest of his siblings, followed by Kevin Joshua Oviatt (Tammy) and Craig Russell Oviatt. After his mother married Darrell Douglas Harmon, the family grew to include Stephanie Harmon Shae (Michael) and Jason Bruce “Rocky” Harmon (Crystal). Christian is survived by his mother, his children and granddaughters, his brothers, Melinda and many extended family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Floyd Oviatt, and his sister, Stephanie.

Christian leaves behind a lifetime of memories and a family who will miss his smile, his humor and especially those unforgettable bear hugs. He was deeply loved, and he always will be.

A memorial celebration of life will be held on Saturday, August 22, 1 - 2 p.m. at the Kanab Library Multipurpose Room (374 N Main St, Kanab UT 84741)
