Carol Lowry Nessen left us to rejoin her family August 1, 2026, for a wonderful reunion at the age of 91.

She was born in Oakley, Idaho, on November 7, 1934, to James Hansen Lowry and Erma Louisa Larson, and was raised on the farm with her sisters Helen Johnson (D), Loretta Harris (D), Gerta Palmer of Alton, Utah, and Ruth Ellen McClure (D).

She graduated Oakley High School, class of 1952 and married Russell Don Nessen in 1958, later divorced. Children: Julie L Nessen and Lenny D. Nessen.

We lived in Riverdale and Salt Lake City, Utah, before moving to Orderville, then to Kanab.

She was employed by the Kanab Health Department for 25 years. She loved the people she worked with and met throughout her time while there, many of whom remained as friends.

She lived in St George with her son for the last 10 years after having two mind strokes. His care of her is greatly appreciated.

She is survived by her children, Julie and Lenny, of St George, Utah; grandson Derek M. Johnson, of St George, and granddaughter Miranda D. Nessen, of Leeds, Utah; sister Gerta Palmer of Alton, Utah; and numerous nieces, nephews and their children in Utah and Idaho.

She also leaves behind her daughter-of-the-heart, Chelsea Fink (Frank), her best friend and partner in shenanigans, Lynn Averette and others who she dearly loved.

She requested no services, only to be cremated and placed with her family in Idaho. We will honor her wishes at a later time. Thank you, Mother.
