Set your calendar, make your reservations and spend three exciting, educational and entertaining days in the “Old West” of Kanab’s Little Hollywood.

Western Legends 12th Annual Round-up event will be held August 26-28 in Kanab, Utah.

The Tri-Valley Junior Rodeo (free), to be held on Wednesday, August 24, at 4 p.m., kicks off the festival at the KanePlex rodeo grounds. There is a Dutch oven dinner starting at 5:30 p.m. for $8 per individual or $30 for a family.

On Friday, August 27, Jackie Rife and Theo McAllister are the honorees at a Kanab High School stage show featuring Belinda Gail, opening for headliner R.W. Hampton at 7 p.m.

Saturday’s stage show, at Kanab High School at 7 p.m., features headliner David John and the Comstock Cowboys, with the local honoree presentation to Mel Heaton and Rachael Veater as the pre-show entertainment.

The seating is open this year at both of these events, tickets are $30 and includes the12th annual gleaming collective event pin.

Breakfast with the Stars ($10 per person) from 8-9:30 a.m. begins the Saturday schedule at Frontier Movie Town, followed by the Gunsmoke and Josey Wales tours ($10 per person) leaving at 10 a.m. and returning in time for the High Noon Parade down Highway 89.

Activities throughout the three days include featured celebrities Clink Walker, Peter Brown, Kenny Hall, other well known entertainers, the Little Hollywood Film Festival, western workshops for folklore and poetry, working displays, art shows, quilt show, tractor pull, all day street fair, Wild West (courthouse) and Pony Express (post office) stage shows, Dr. Buck’s Wild West Gunfight Show, horse drawn wagons and longhorn cattle through the streets of downtown Kanab, and much more.

More than 100 films have been filmed in and around the Kanab area. You can stroll down the Walk of Fame sprinkled with the red dust of old west honoring Ronald Reagan, Howard Koch, Glen Ford, Chuck Connors, the entire cast of Gunsmoke and others.
