In August of 2020, Kanab residents Wayne and Stacy Grosz earned a Length-of-Service award for 15 years of outstanding weather observations.

The Grosz team is part of the National Weather Service Cooperative Observer Program (COOP), which includes over 100 stations throughout Utah at which individuals volunteer to record and report measurements of temperature and precipitation every day.

We have a number of sites where data has been recorded for more than 100 years. Wayne and Stacy have generously given their time and effort for the past 15 years, continuing the record of daily observations, which began at the Kanab station in 1899!
