Five-year-old Taelynn Wheeler mounted on her mini-horse “Stingray” awaiting her turn in the goat-tie competition during the finals of the Long Valley Lion’s Club Junior Rodeo series. She and her mother, Letrisha, and family have traveled the four-hour/250 mile trek from their Rock Point, Arizona, home about 46 miles east of Kayenta. She also participates in barrel and pole events. This is her fourth go-round, along with some 10 other clan families from The Rez, where their Western Junior Rodeo Association gatherings have been curtailed due to Covid-19 restrictions throughout the entire Navajo Nation.
