In a September 4 game that tallied dramatically beyond head coach Lance Peterson’s strategy to “score early” when well aware that two days prior Bryce Valley had stomped on the then league-leading Piute Thunderbirds, 8-7. Fiercely determined, the Valley Boys let their bats shout with first place on the line.

The inspiring victory featured the undeniable heroics of first baseman Cooper Esplin, who in two consecutive at-bats, facing loaded bases, doubled both to the left-center fence for six RBIs, adding two subsequent scores of his own, each sliding into home!

The win goes to pitching ace Conner Chamberlain, who in his team-leading nine appearances on the mound, has hurled an impressive 526 times.

Including a 12-2 home win over Diamond Ranch Academy on September 2, the current Region 20-1A South Conference standings have Valley and Piute tied for first at 6-2. However, the Buffalos hold a 13-2 overall edge, compared to the 11-3 T’Birds, to rank second in Division 1A behind the 6-0 Wendover Wolverines. The results of the September 9 showdown in Orderville against Piute will leave one of these South squads 2-1 in head-to-head confrontations.
