Art Show Opening August 7
The Kanab City Library and Kanab Arts Board are thrilled to host the upcoming Art Show Opening on Friday, August 7. The event will be held in the library multi-purpose room and kicks off at 6 p.m. with an art walk through the library.
Refreshments will be provided by The Friends of the Library and we will be treated to live piano background music by Joanne Palmer.
At 6:30 p.m., the Artists and Art Supporters of the Year selected for 2018: Cathryn McCormick/Artist, Betty Colston/Art Supporter, and for 2019: Jennifer Andrews/Artist, Nicole Houston/Art Supporter, will be recognized.
The public attending this event will be able to submit their nominations to the Kanab Arts Board for local Artist and Art Supporter of 2020. This opportunity will be available at each quarterly art show and via ballot box at the library.
On this evening we are excited to feature a mini-documentary created by multi-talented artist/KHS art teacher Josh Baird and Mike McTeer screening the work of Cathryn McCormick and Bonnie Dunn titled, “Women Who Play with Fire.”
At around 7 p.m., after the awards and brief documentary, a panel featuring our show artists – Eileen Gilbert-Bell (Mixed Media), Martin Feely (Photography), Kelly McCabe (Acrylics) and Brooke Knighton (3D Bone/Skull art) – will be available to answer questions about their works on display and creative processes. The event will wrap up around 7:30 p.m.
Come celebrate and continue to support our diverse range of wonderfully talented local artists – beginners to professionals; performance, folk, literary arts, design and visual artists – each thankfully open to sharing their passion and talent with us.
Please note we will follow the library’s current health protocols at the time of the event and hope we are able to livestream at least part of the event so those of you who would like to participate from home can. Thank you!
