Coach Kliesen Memorial August 15
Linda L. Kliesen passed away on April 6, 2020, of complications pertaining to her heart.
She was born to Leonard and Helen Fern Kliesen on January 3, 1950, the youngest of 10 children.
Linda taught briefly in Cheyenne Wells, Colorado, then she taught at Fredonia Moccasin School District, in Fredonia, Arizona, from 1984 through 2004. She taught Physical Education at the elementary school, then she taught PE and Health, and coached girls basketball and softball at Fredonia High School. Her basketball teams won many championships and titles during her career. She was recognized as one of the winningest coaches in Arizona. Coach Kliesen loved coaching and she loved the girls she coached! The feeling was mutual.
Linda left behind her only daughter, Tobie Overson (Brent), and seven grandchildren, whom she loved dearly, all of St. Johns, Arizona. She was most recently blessed with her very first great-granddaughter.
There was a $1200 scholarship awarded in Linda’s name to the outstanding female athlete of FHS for the 2020 school year. It was awarded to Nicole Zaccaria. It was made up of donations from her family and many friends!
There will be a memorial program in her honor, held at the Fredonia Town Park, on August 15 at 3 p.m. Social distancing and masks will be appreciated.
We, her family and friends, would like to invite any faculty members, students, athletes and community members to join us in memorializing Linda at this time.
