Mangum Fire forces evacuations along House Rock Road
As of Wednesday, June 24, the Mangum Fire has burned 71,108 acres and is 68 percent contained. There are currently 642 firefighters battling the blaze that began on June 8.
Last week Forest Service personnel, along with Game and Fish officers, evacuated residents along the House Rock Road area north of Highway 89A due to the Mangum Fire.
The Forest Service Incident Command Team notified the Coconino County Sheriff’s Office that the Mangum Fire reached trigger points for needed evacuations along the House Rock Road between Highway 89A in Arizona and Highway 89 in Utah. Officials from the United States Forest Service and Arizona Game and Fish made contact at residences along House Rock Road and placed them in the “GO” stage.
All occupied residences along the House Rock Road were contacted and House Rock Road has been closed at this time until it is deemed safe for public travel.
