Hannah Zweifel, Kanab High School class of 2012, and former Southern Utah News employee, received her Doctorate of Medicine from the University of Utah School of Medicine on May 15, 2020. She says that she is very honored to have received the opportunity to attend such an excellent medical school.

Hannah will be completing her residency training at the Oregon Health Sciences University in Portland, Oregon. She will specialize in psychiatry, with an emphasis on whole patient treatment. Hannah chose OHSU because they offer a training option that will allow her to treat psychiatric patients while also managing their other medical conditions.

During medical school, she was able to train locally with Dr. Ott and Dr. Bowman at Kane County Hospital and Kanab Clinic, an experience she says was very instructional.

Hannah thanks her high school science teachers Barb Warner, Kim Titus and Megan Smith for helping spark her interest in science, and ultimately, medicine.

She begins her post graduate work in mid-June, where she will spend her first year doing rotations in a variety of medical areas at several hospitals served by OHSU, including assisting with the Covid-19 pandemic.

Good luck and congratulations Dr. Zweifel!
