Included in this week’s Southern Utah News is a copy of our annual Southern Utah Vacation Guide. The guide is packed full of interesting stories of the area, with amazing photos submitted by our subscribers.

Ken Koontz, of Hurricane, Utah, was our first back to back cover photographer winner, as his stunning night photo of the hoodoos between Kanab and Page was chosen for the cover of the 2020 Southern Utah Vacation Guide. His photo totally rocked this year’s theme “Rocks of Ages.”

Others whose photos were featured in the guide include: Barry Glazier, Jayme Church, Steve Williams, Brian McDonald, Lisa Ladd, Neal Brown, Jill Williams, Sunny Stroeer, Annie Huffman, Tiffany Unsworth, Stephen Dahl, Justyne Moore and Norm McKee. Those photographers will receive a one year subscription to the Southern Utah News, or if they already have one, a year will be added.

Also featured in this year’s edition is a little on Kanab’s Sesquicentennial, or 150th Birthday, as festivities will be going on throughout the year, with the biggest celebration the week of June 13. You can read more on that at: visitsouthern

Articles in the guide cover Grand Canyon (North Rim and Toroweap), Bryce Canyon and Zion National Parks, as well as the Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument, Glen Canyon National Recreation Area (including Lake Powell), Pipe Spring National Monument, the Wave, Coral Pink Sand Dunes State Park, Kaibab National Forest and Cedar Mountain.

There are also articles on Best Friends, Moqui Cave, western movie history, ATV riding, top 10 hiking trails, Maynard Dixon, the United Order, Long Valley, river rafting, Kanab’s All-Woman Town Council, rock art, dark skies, scenic Byway 12 and more!

We would like to thank all of those who submitted photos in this year’s photo contest. We had the most entries ever.

We would also like to thank all of our advertisers, for without them, this guide would not be possible. You are the best – thank you so much!
