Two Kanab teenagers were lucky not to have suffered serious injuries after the truck they were in skidded and rolled onto its side after failing to negotiate the turn at the west end of Center Street.

According to Utah Highway Patrol Sergeant Joseph Pastor, who investigated the accident, two vehicles were racing westbound on Center Street side by side when the truck above couldn’t make the corner, skidded and struck the curb, causing it to roll onto its side.

Both of the teenagers in the truck were transported by private vehicle to Kane County Hospital, where they were treated and released.

The drivers of both vehicles were cited for exhibition of speeding, or racing. The accident is still under investigation and more charges may be filed, including driving under the influence and other traffic related offenses.
